Forced birth evacuation separates families and denies pregnant people culturally safe care. This isn’t just inconvenient, it’s an injustice.

For almost a year, we poured our hearts into the Community Care: Evacuation for Birth program—making sure families could stay together during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. Unfortunately, the financial and administrative toll was too high on our small team, and eventually, we had to let it go. But we haven’t stopped fighting. We strongly believe it’s the governments responsibility to keep families together and we’re still advocating for a more family-forward medical travel policy, so no one has to birth alone.

✨ Yesterday, NBC went out with Aurora College students Christina and Galle to install our very first Menstrual Nooks in N’dilo & Dettah! 🏠🌸

These nooks wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support from Indigenous Service Canada (ISC) and the hard work of builder Maxie. Huge love to the students for making this happen.💕

❓ Did you know you could utilize your stairs to help in movement during late pregnancy?

Walking up and down the stairs can help with:

➡️ Keeping you active
➡️ Improving your blood circulation
➡️ Help to keep your pelvic floor loose and ready to push

Don’t have stairs? No problem! You can do the same movements outside on a curb. All we ask is that you be extra careful on those steps!

Important and innovative research is being done at @ualberta exploring how to optimize child development in Indigenous communities by starting from pre-conception to early life.
