🎉As we come to end of the 2025, we wanted to take some time to send gratitude to the incredible Aurora College Student Nurses, and Collaborators that Led & helped make these initiatives possible.

⏪ Because of you, and funding opportunities we receive from Partnerships such as ISC “Indigenous Services Canada”, we now have these initiatives available to our Community:

✔️7 Menstrual Nooks with FREE period products available in 6 different locations between Yellowknife, Dettah & Ndilǫ
✔️Menstrual Health Education Zine both in printed copies and PDF that is downloadable on our website
✔️Perinatal Health Resource that are located at both Keskori & Larga Boarding homes, and our office that were created to help those travelling to Yellowknife for care to connect with local resources, programs & services available to them.

📍Meeting place will be at the day use area of Yellowknife River at 12pm

❤️”Participants will be guided on a walk to learn about medicinal plants that grow in Denendeh. Plants that grow naturally can be used to treat all sorts of ailments, large and small and have been used by the Indigenous peoples of this land for centuries.”

Forced birth evacuation separates families and denies pregnant people culturally safe care. This isn’t just inconvenient, it’s an injustice.

For almost a year, we poured our hearts into the Community Care: Evacuation for Birth program—making sure families could stay together during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. Unfortunately, the financial and administrative toll was too high on our small team, and eventually, we had to let it go. But we haven’t stopped fighting. We strongly believe it’s the governments responsibility to keep families together and we’re still advocating for a more family-forward medical travel policy, so no one has to birth alone.

This week, we had the honour of hosting our Knowledge Keepers to share space, reflect on the past, and shape the future of this work together. The Prince of Wales Heritage Centre generously pulled stunning archives for us to tour. Including moss diapers, baby belts, and head sculptors of Annie McPherson and Métis midwife Harriet Gladue.

Through each teaching and memory shared, we were reminded that this work lives in all of us; carried through relationships, community care, and deep commitment. We move forward with respect, reflection, and open hearts. 💛

We also spent time discussing the naming of our new project, something we’re excited to share with you soon. Mahsi to our Knowledge Keepers for always guiding our direction.

✨ Yesterday, NBC went out with Aurora College students Christina and Galle to install our very first Menstrual Nooks in N’dilo & Dettah! 🏠🌸

These nooks wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support from Indigenous Service Canada (ISC) and the hard work of builder Maxie. Huge love to the students for making this happen.💕
