KYLA LESAGE (SHE/HER)

Kyla LeSage is Vuntut Gwitchin from Old Crow, Yukon, and Anishinaabe from Garden River, Ontario. She was raised and currently lives on Chief Drygeese Territory in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Kyla is a Dechinta alumni, having earned credits toward her degree in Political Science and Indigenous Studies at the University of British Columbia. After graduating from UBC, Kyla returned to Yellowknife to work with Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning as a land-based and outreach coordinator. She now serves as the Director of Program Development, where she leads land-based programs for students, the public, and in collaboration with community organizations. Kyla has served on several boards and steering committees, including the Arctic Inspiration Prize, NWT Recreation and Parks Association (NWTRPA), and the Western Arctic Youth Collective, contributing to northern programming across diverse communities. She is deeply passionate about land-based learning, harvesting, and working on hides alongside Elders and community members.
